iPhone 17 Pro Series Allegedly Listed on Geekbench; Scores Higher Than Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series is expected to launch sometime in September. With the rumoured launch timeline drawing nearer, the leaks have begun to intensify. There have been several leaks suggesting the designs of the upcoming iPhone 17 models, and we’ve also heard rumours about the new iPhone 17 Air which will compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. Now, a tipster has shared alleged Geekbench benchmark scores of the processor that is expected to be used in the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared the alleged Geekbench listings of the iPhone 17 Pro phones in a Weibo post. According to the tipster, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be powered by Apple’s yet to be announced A19 Pro SoC. The processor is currently said to stick to the 3nm fabrication process, but will offer better performance compared to the A18 Pro SoC in the existing iPhone 16 Pro models.

The tipster also shared the alleged Geekbench benchmark scores of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro max. As per them, the A19 Pro SoC is very powerful and can deliver a single-core score of 4,000+ and a multi-core score of 10,000+.

For comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro Max we reviewed, managed Geekbench scores of 3,203 and 7,846 respectively. IF the rumour is true, then it indicates a big performance bump for the iPhone 17 Pro series, which is always good to have.

In our own testing of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, we obtained Geekbench scores of 3,054 and 9,832 respectively. So, it seems that Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max isn’t too ahead of Qualcomm and premium Android smartphones in terms of raw benchmarked performance.

Apple recently unveiled its new Liquid Glass-themed experiences for all of its device platforms including iOS. The new interface with numerous transparency effects is sure to increase the load on its processors and so a powerful new SoC for Pro smartphone models surely makes sense.
